Bradders wins Olympic Gold for GB, in London 2012!

Hi dudes and dudettes...it's been a while! How are you all doing? I'll fill you all in on the excitement over the past year later. it's been a bit busy.

Team GB Bradley Wiggins wins Gold, and Chris Froome, right, secures Bronze
in the London Olympics 2012.

At this present time, all I care about is that Chorley-born Bradley Wiggins has won the Olympic Gold medal,  and has broken the British medal-holder record today!!

I bolted home from work today, ending up soaking wet stood in the torrential rain before the taxi turned up, to watch it myself. I knew this would be history in the making.

Yes, the boy who first rode for us at tender age of 17 at the Sydney Olympics, Bradley (or Bradders, as affectionately I call him), now holds the most Olympic medals in British History.
More than Sir Steve Redgrave!

And the icing on the cake was Chris Froome- another Brit- who confidently seized the Bronze. Omg! Well done Team GB, Wiggins, & Froome.

Great Britain witnessed our Olympic history today.

Go Bradders!

Go TeamGB!!!!

Dalek & Cybermen Leaders On Holiday

I am Davros! I am the creator and Master of the Daleks!
I reign supreme- I am a genius!
I am the infamous evil nemesis of
The Doctor!

Me at work.

In my down-time, I enjoy nothing better than enjoying romantic get-aways with my civil partner, Mike, the CyberLeader.

Here are some snaps of our last few holidays:

I COMMAND YOU VIEW THEM!

Me & Mike in Scotland. Look- a sheep!

I exterminated it after the photo.
Obviously.

After the 10th Doctor thwarted our plans last year, Mike & I decided to have a Cruise, to get away from it all.

Why is there always someone in the back of a flippin' good photo?

Me and Mike in Venice. Oh that was a lovely romantic trip that was.

Ooh a photo of the kids in Venice:

After a candle-lit dinner, a lovely romantic roll along the beach...

and then to bed...wink wink.

Baby James

Darren and I were over the moon. In November, 2009, we discovered we were pregnant with a little boy.

We named him James Alexander. He was due 21st April 2010.

I had a textbook pregnancy up until the 6th month. Then I was diagnosed with SPD- my pelvic ligaments were too loose. Cue agonising walking, infact just plain moving was agony. Being pregnant, I was forbidden to use painkillers. But I was reassured by the Obstetric physio assured me it wouldn't effect my baby, it was temporary and would stop when I gave birth. I was given crutches so I could mobilise.

Then March 5th, 2010: James was declared dead at 33weeks, 4 days. He hadn't moved much the previous day, and so I called the Maternity Unit and was admitted for a reassuring scan. He was alive one minute...then he died, right there in the Maternity Unit.

I had to give birth.

I was induced Sunday, March 7th 2010. It was tricky at first, as my blood pressure went through the roof before labour, & the doctors were extremely concerned I was going to go into seizure. Apparently it was touch and go for a while. I was very poorly, my body was going into shock, although I felt as 'fine' as I could in those circumstances.

The staff at Victoria Hospital were sensational...they put Darren & I in the private Oasis labour room, down the corridor, away from the Live birth rooms. I was put on a Morphine drip and given gas/air.

Here is our beautiful boy.

As I write, we are still grief-stricken and struggling to cope with losing our precious child. I find it very difficult to express the Hell we have been through these past 3 months. All I can do, is share this poem, written by another Angel Mummy, which makes me cry every time I read it, but gives me solace too.

A Mother's Poem.

I thought of you and closed my eyes
And prayed to God today.
I asked what makes a Mother
And I know I heard him say.

A Mother has a baby
This we know is true.
But God can you be a Mother
When your baby’s not with you?

Yes, you can he replied
With confidence in his voice
I give many women babies
When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime
And others for a day
And some I send to fill your womb
But there’s no need to stay.

I just don’t understand this, God
I want my baby here
He took a breath and cleared his throat
And then I saw a tear.

I wish I could show you
What your child is doing today
If you could see your child smile
With other children and say.

We go to earth to learn our lessons
Of love and life and fear.
My Mummy loved me oh so much
I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a Mum
Who had so much love for me
I learned my lesson very quickly
My Mummy set me free.

I miss my Mummy oh so much
But I visit her each day.
When she goes to sleep
On her pillows where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek
And whisper in her ear.
Mummy don’t be sad today
I’m your baby and I’m here.

So you see my dear sweet one
Your children are ok
Your babies are here in my Home
And this is where they’ll stay.

They’ll wait for you with me
Until your lesson there is through
And on the day that you come home
They’ll be at the gates for you.

So now you see what makes a Mother
Its the feeling in your heart.
It’s the love you had so much of
Right from the very start.

Though some on earth may not realise
Until their time is done.
Remember all the love you have
And know you are a special Mum.

Cherish your children.

Please. Do not take the miracle of life forgranted.

Bringing you up to date -Married!

It's been along time since I have posted on here. Let's bring you up to date...

Darren & I jetted off to New York June 2008 to be married!

Yes, we finally tied the knot in Manhattan Marriage Bureau, 20th June, 2010. Typically, we did it our way, organising it ourselves; no 'package holiday' experience, thank you very much!

We were honoured to have Karen & Stef as our Chief Bridesmaid & Best Man and witnesses- yes they signed our lives away, ha ha ha!

We did it in style, staying at the Hyatt Hotel , 5th Avenue, 5 minutes walk from Times Square.

After the ceremony, we enjoyed our "wedding Breakfast': the best burger in the world, in the Burger Joint, frequented by film & music stars. Karen & Stef had been there before on their own NYC trip & recommended it. They were sooo spot on!

Nom nom nom.

Then we whizzed off onto the subway (still in full bridal dress) & played in Central Park. I've never known such a warm and friendly city; we lost count at 65+, how many times we were congratulated by New Yorkers all over the city.

Our 'Reception' was held in Darren & I's favourite Irish Bar downtown, where I enjoyed one of the best Guinness' I've ever tasted.

Karen & Stef bought us a helicopter trip over Manhattan as our wedding gift...wow...what an amazing experience. One we shall never forget.

A wonderful, magical, fun 4 days in The Big Apple, with my new husband, shared with the two most wonderful people in our lives. Now I'm just trying to wangle a way back there...

New York anyone?

Old photos!

I came across some old photos that my dad had kept in Pickmere. I came across them this week as I am slowly but surely clearing out my old family home. Very sad, but these pictures cheered me up...

Dad, me and Mum, when I was 5-6. I remember this photo being taken...I'd been bought new red ribbons for my hair (I was obsessed with ribbons lol), and we had just returned from a lovely day in Stanley Park.

Tommy taking a cracking photo- me, Dad, Mum and my darling eldest brother Brian, who tragically died in 1995, aged 39.

Note the red ribbon obsession continues...

Also note Brian's excellent taste in national Football teams...

COME ON SCOTLAND!!

My 11th Birthday party in the front room at Pickmere.

from left to right,

Tracey Holt, Lisa, Tammy, Me
(stood up cutting my birthday cake), Clare Ellam and, at the end, gorgeous Joanne Collins, my dear friend who despite all our efforts to help, took her own life when she was twenty.

Ahh...the 1980s...brother Tommy in his twenties (who Joanne had a massive crush on lol), me ( I think I was 11) and dad on the front at Pickmere, enjoying the warm weather, Summer 1983.

My lovely family...

Aunt Isa, Uncle Tommy and Gran in Dunblane Drive, East Kilbride, early 80s.

My BSc Degree Graduation Day, Nov 1994...St Peters Church, Wolverhampton. With my Mum and Dad x

Oh no...

Dad's singing...
he's tipsy...
it must be Christmas!

Dad taking his turn giving a song to the family, circa 1994.
